BigCommerce is a popular platform for creating online stores. It comes with great customizability, excellent tools for optimizing your store for the search engines and third-party integration to help boost sales.
This article will take you through the process of setting up your store on BigCommerce and some of the useful tools you can use to boost success.
Go to the BigCommerce sign up page and enter the preferred name of your store. You can change the name later on. Next, select a hosting plan or if you are not sure about the platform yet, click on the free trial button.
Next you need to key in some personal information and the products you will be selling via the platform. If you have not yet decided, just select the ‘I’m not sure’ option.
Once you’ve finished filling out all the details on the page, click on the ‘create my store now’ button at the bottom of the page. It’s advisable to read through the terms of service before creating your store.
Your store will be created, and you can view it using the ‘visit your store’ button that appears on the screen. From your dashboard, you will have access to your control panel that allows you to manage and customize your site.
Your dashboard also gives you access to the support portal offering 24/7 support via chat, email and phone, and design and development partners in case you need help customizing your site plus an app marketplace.
BigCommerce gives you two options for adding a product. You can add one product at a time, or you can import a list of products via a CSV file. You add products via the ‘Add products’ button on the dashboard and the import/ export feature.
To set up payments, go to the store setup list in ‘settings’ and then choose ‘payments’. You have many options including Paypal, credit card or even cash on delivery. You can set up a combination of different payment methods but the platform recommends not more than two or three.
Just like other E-commerce platforms, BigCommerce has a number of apps to help boost the success of your business. Some of them include:
Personalized Recommendations: Personalized product recommendation is essential because it boosts product discovery and sales. This app will show recommendations to customers based on their purchases and behavior while in your store.
FOMO: At times a customer just wants what others are buying or simply what is trending. FOMO shows pop up alerts when an item is purchased, letting customers know what is selling.
Optimizely: This is an A/B testing tool that allows you to test conversion rates for different versions of your site.
Rare.io: Email marketing can be used to boost conversion rates and build customer loyalty for your store. This app helps in analyzing customer behavior and then determining the best recommendations and best timing to send your customers an email.
BigCommerce is a top e-commerce platform with great features to help you sell your products. Most of the set up is easy, but if you get stuck, you can always ask for help from the design and development partners.
